The Different Kinds of Food That Are Good For Different Body Parts

Carrots are good for the Eyes:

Slice a carrot in half crosswise and it's easy to see that the veggie resembles an eye—look closely and you'll even notice a pattern of radiating lines that mimic the pupil and iris. And the old wives' tale is true: Munching on carrots will actually promote healthy eyes. Carrots are filled with vitamins and antioxidants, like beta-carotene, that decrease the chance of macular degeneration, the leading cause of vision loss in older people.


Walnuts are good for the Brain:

The folds and wrinkles of a walnut bring to mind another human organ: the brain. The shape of the nut even approximates the body part, looking like it has left and right hemispheres. And it's no surprise walnuts are nicknamed "brain food, they have a very high content of omega-3 fatty acids, which help support brain function.


Celery is good for the Bones:

Long, lean stalks of celery look just like bones—and they're good for them, too. Celery is a great source of silicon, which is part of the molecular structure that gives bones their strength. Bones are 23 percent sodium, and so is celery.


Avocadoes are good for the Uterus:

The lightbulb shape of an avocado looks like a uterus, and it supports reproductive health as well. Avocados are a good source of folic acid. Folate has been found to reduce the risk for cervical dysplasia, which is a precancerous condition.


Clams are good for the Testicles:

Studies have offered evidence that clams, which bear a resemblance to testicles, are actually good for the male sex organs. Research from the Netherlands has suggested that supplementing your diet with folic acid and zinc—both of which clams are high in––can have a significant effect on improving semen quality in men.


Grapefruits are good for the Breasts:

The similarity between round citrus fruits––like lemons and grapefruit––and breasts may be more than coincidental. Grapefruit contains substances called limonoids, which have been shown to inhibit the development of cancer in lab animals and in human breast cells.


Tomatoes are good for the Heart:

Slice open a tomato and you'll notice the red veggie has multiple chambers that resemble the structure of a heart. Studies have found that because of the lycopene in tomatoes, there is a reduced risk for heart disease in men and women who eat them. If you mix them with a little fat, like olive oil or avocado, it will boost your body's lycopene absorption nearly tenfold.


Red Wine is good for the Blood:

Red wine, which is rich in antioxidants and polyphenols, including powerful resveratrol, looks like blood. When you drink it, you're really loading up on the healthy stuff that protects against destructive things in the blood, like LDL cholesterol, which can cause heart disease. There's also a blood-thinning compound in red wine, so it reduces blood clots, which are associated with stroke and heart disease.


Ginger is good for the Stomach:

Anyone who's ever reached for a glass of ginger ale when they've had a stomachache knows about the antinausea effects of ginger. So it's fitting that the herb somewhat resembles the digestive organ. Gingerol, which is the ingredient responsible for ginger's pungent scent and taste, is listed in the USDA database of phytochemicals as having the ability to prevent nausea and vomiting.


Sweet Potatoes are good for the Pancreas:

The oblong sweet potato bears a strong resemblance to the pancreas, and also promotes healthy function in the organ. Sweet potatoes are high in beta-carotene, which is a potent antioxidant that protects all tissues of the body, including the pancreas, from damage associated with cancer or aging.


Bananas are good for Smiles:

Bananas have an extra special protein called tryptophan which is actually converted into serotonin once it is digested in the body. Serotonin is that well loved happy chemical that can boost your mood and make you feel happier. Not only do bananas look like a smile, but they make you smile too!


Grapes are good for the Lungs:

Grapes are a fantastic snack if you’re both hungry and thirsty because of how juicy they are! Grapes also go well on charcuterie boards and make a good snack for car rides with hungry kiddies. If you struggle with allergy-triggered asthma, grapes and their seeds are your new best friend! The seeds contain a chemical called proanthocyanidin which helps reduce your asthma. Grapes also happen to look like the alveoli in your lungs!


Onions are good for the Body Cells:

Cutting up onions can be such a pain, but their nutritional benefits make them worth it! The best part is, they always add a perfect touch of added flavor to just about every savory dish you can concoct. Onions look a lot like the cells in your body, and for good reason! Onions can clear any waste related materials from your cells, and those tears that drive you insane? They are actually cleaning out your eyes! Consider onions a natural cleaning product for your body.


Broccoli is good to combat Cancer Cells:

Broccoli is often compared to looking like a little forest of tiny trees. Another comparison for broccoli is that it looks a lot like cancer cells! It turns out, those two things are actually closely connected. It has been found that if you eat broccoli once a week, it has the possibility of reducing your chances of prostate cancer by 45%. Once a week is completely achievable and clearly incredibly beneficial!


Mushrooms are good for the Ears:

Beyond all the cartilage you see that makes up the exterior of your ear, lies some teeny tiny bones that help your ears receive sound. When they are sliced and turned sideways, mushrooms actually look like ears! To keep your bones strong, chow down on some mushrooms. They are packed with vitamin D which helps keep your bones strong and highly functioning. Without healthy ear bones, your hearing would be significantly lacking!


Olives are good for the Ovaries:

Olives are one of those foods that people either love or love to hate! They are served it many Italian and Mediterranean dishes such as Greek salad, with chicken or, with fish. Olives have been found to not only look like a woman’s ovaries but also help the ovaries. It is not completely clear how, but scientists believe that the healthy fats in olives can help suppress any genes that predispose a woman to get ovarian cancer.


Strawberries are good for Teeth:

Watching television always results in you seeing at least one commercial advertising for products that can help you get brighter, whiter teeth. When you get to the store though, those whitening products are really expensive! This is where strawberries come in as very useful fruits! If you regularly eat strawberries, they can help whiten your teeth! Strawberries contain something called malic acid which helps whiten the enamel on your teeth. Next time you go to the grocery store, skip the oral hygiene aisle and grab some strawberries!
