Useful Tips for Taking Care of Yourself

Women often are juggling so many roles in their lives–caregiver, provider, housekeeper, partner, student, employee, employer, business owner, daughter–that it’s hard for them to focus on themselves. Finding the time, energy, and motivation to take care of ourselves can be difficult. Our bodies change as we age and therefore, our needs change as well. Here are some useful tips for taking care of yourself.

Exercise your mind - Start a new book, Crossword puzzle, word search, engage in brain games (there are many phone apps you can download)

Books – Start a list of books you’ve been meaning to read, make a list of concepts you’re interested in reading and writing about too (who knows, maybe you’re a great poet, song writer, playwright or author).

Courses – Look at different courses that are educational like videos on financial literacy, cultural competency, health literacy, business hacks, make up tutorials, and meditation. You’d be amazed with all the free video tutorials/demonstrations/content that’s available on YouTube & Vimeo.

Music – Try to listen to your favorite music, nature sounds, and try listening to music in a different language that you may or may not understand (but speaks to you).

Visual Art – Start a Sketch Book or a coloring book, practice different art techniques and mediums of art.
